Ukrainian singer Mykyta Lomakin, who was recently drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, shared his personal story about how illness, stress, and new conditions of service nearly broke him mentally and physically. The artist admitted that the experience landed him in the hospital, but it was music that helped him recover.
Lomakin wrote about this on his Instagram, adding a poignant video where he sings for his brothers again. The video immediately moved his followers and caused a wave of support.
“My voice was hoarse because I hadn’t sung for over a month, I had bronchitis, I smoked a lot, and I was nervous,” the singer wrote. “The change in circumstances — mobilization, military unit, and then the BZVP — sowed fear in me. And that led me to the hospital.”.
According to Lomakin, he fell ill with bronchitis and a fever. However, he returned from the hospital to the training camp the other day. The most emotional moment was a spontaneous event:
“An orchestra came to our place. And someone told the artists that I was also a singer. They offered me to sing,” says Mykyta. “When I picked up the microphone, I immediately relaxed and focused on the meaning of the beautiful song and on my brothers and sisters, for whom my voice can become a guide to feelings and memories of the most precious thing — about my mother, about the home that each of us misses.”.
In the end, the artist emphasized that it was the song that helped him overcome fear and return to himself:
“Fear brought me to the hospital, and the song renewed my strength and helped my brothers recover,” he added.
