The Supreme Court of Ukraine has released former head of the National Commission for the Control of Energy and Utilities Kryvenko from liability

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has acquitted the former head of the National Commission for Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NKREK) Oksana Kryvenko from criminal liability in the Rotterdam+ case.

As reported by Transparency International Ukraine, the Supreme Court of Criminal Appeals granted Kryvenko's request to close the proceedings due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. As a result, the case against her was terminated, and the civil lawsuit in part of the claims was left without consideration.

The former official was accused of official negligence related to the application of the “Rotterdam+” formula. However, more than five years have passed since the incriminated actions were committed, so the statute of limitations has expired.

Transparency International emphasized that such a court decision is not rehabilitative in nature, because the case was closed not due to the absence of a crime, but solely due to the expiration of the time limits for bringing the case to justice.
