In Kyiv, police have detained a group of fraudsters who used the name of the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, to scam people out of large sums of money. One of the criminals called himself Yermak's "cousin" and demanded $100,000 for the alleged opportunity to get a job in government structures.
Andriy Yermak himself reported the exposure of the scammers. According to him, the police caught the group "red-handed" when they were trying to get money from another victim.
"I just learned from the police that they caught a group of scammers red-handed. It was led by a certain Yermak D.S., who called himself my cousin. Of course, this is a fraudulent fabrication," the head of the OP said.
According to law enforcement, the criminals developed a scheme to "sell positions" in government agencies, using connections with high-ranking officials as cover. They convinced people that they could "help" them with employment or management positions in exchange for money.
Yermak thanked the police for their quick response and emphasized that there are no intermediaries in personnel matters: "I am confident that the criminals will receive a fair punishment."
The investigation is currently ongoing. Law enforcement officers are checking whether the scammers could have defrauded other people using a similar scheme.
