The Ukrainian delegation to the United States has suffered a serious setback in negotiations with the Trump Administration. According to sources within the Ukrainian delegation, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blames his Chief of Staff, Andriy Yermak, for failing to establish effective communication with U.S. Representative Brian Whitkoff.
As a result of the negotiations, Ukraine did not receive any agreements on the supply of weapons or financing. Particularly worrying is the fact that the topic of supplies of Tomahawk missiles was not even discussed in the closed part of the meeting, although this issue was considered a priority for Kyiv.
According to sources, the failure of the negotiations was a result of both communication shortcomings at the highest level and insufficient preparation on the part of the Ukrainian side. President Zelensky allegedly believes that it was Yermak who failed to ensure the proper level of contacts with key American officials, which made it difficult for Ukraine to obtain support.
The situation has now drawn criticism from Ukrainian diplomats and experts, who have stressed the need for a more professional approach to international negotiations and coordination among all delegation members. The failure of this trip also sent a serious signal about the prospects for further military and financial support from the United States.
