New Stratus coronavirus strain spreads in Kyiv and seven regions

Kyiv is recording an increase in the number of hospitalizations due to the new COVID-19 Stratus strain, particularly among patients in serious condition. This was reported on Kyiv24 by Valentina Ginzburg, director of the healthcare department of the Kyiv City State Administration.

She noted that on the eve of autumn, there is traditionally a seasonal increase in the incidence of the disease, which is associated with the return of people from vacations, migration flows and a general increase in social contacts. According to Ginzburg, the main problem is the failure to comply with simple safety measures, including wearing masks, especially in crowded places.

"This is absolutely seasonal, before September the number of returns, migration events, vacations, people coming from other countries increases. And the most important thing is that we do not adhere to truly elementary safety measures," she emphasized.

The doctor advises Kyiv residents to take care of their own protection, wear masks in public places, especially indoors, to reduce the risk of infection.

It was previously reported that the number of COVID-19 patients with complications has sharply increased in Kyiv. At the same time, cases of infection with the new Stratus strain have been recorded not only in the capital, but also in seven regions of Ukraine - Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia, Kyiv, Poltava, and Chernihiv.
