The next few months will be crucial in the war between Ukraine and Russia, an anonymous senior Ukrainian government official told Reuters . Ukrainian military and political leaders are increasingly aware that time will play a decisive role in their future strategies, especially against the backdrop of possible changes in the international political situation.
"This winter is a critical moment... I hope the war is coming to an end. Now we will determine the positions of both sides in the negotiations, the starting positions," the official said.
He also acknowledged that Trump's victory made Ukraine's invitation to NATO less likely and created the risk of aid cuts.
“I hope the Biden administration will try to avoid this risk by accelerating (its) assistance,” the official said.
As a reminder, Biden has already stated that they plan to provide Ukraine with all of the agreed $6 billion in aid by the end of Biden's term.
