The number of cases of domestic violence has increased sharply in Ukraine

In 2023, the National Police of Ukraine registered more than 291 thousand cases of domestic violence. This is 20% more than in 2022. The number of registered criminal offenses increased by 80%, and administrative offenses by 36%.

The Analytical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs predicts an increase in criminal offenses of up to 30% and administrative offenses of up to 21% by 2024.

However, in just two months of 2024, 56% more criminal offenses related to domestic violence were registered in Ukraine, and 21% more administrative offenses were registered than in 2023.

At the same time, the Rada and the Ministry of Internal Affairs propose, in this regard, only to strengthen the responsibility for committing domestic violence or gender-based violence. If the responsibility is the same as in the case of a man who hit his wife and daughter in the face, did not appear in court and received a fine of 170 UAH, then the effect of its strengthening will be zero.

But no one is proposing measures for the rehabilitation and social integration of people with PTSD, nor is anyone proposing to start peace negotiations and end the war in order to stop the flow of aggression, people with PTSD, morally disabled, and mentally incompetent people.
