Active fighting continues on the front in eastern Ukraine, especially northeast of Kupyansk and in the Bakhmut direction, in the Robotyne and Verbovye areas. Reports from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) confirm this information.
In Luhansk Oblast, in the Kreminna area, Russian troops have been spotted near Terni and Belogorivka. Positional fighting continues along the Kupyansk - Svatove - Kreminna line. In Donetsk Oblast, Russian troops have also been spotted, in particular near Bakhmut and Avdiivka.
Information about the deployment of Russian troops in Ivanovske (west of Bakhmut) is unconfirmed, although some sources have claimed this. It is also claimed that Russian troops are trying to continue the offensive west of Avdiivka, but so far without significant success.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced a full rotation of the brigade's units in the eastern direction, allowing them to restore their strength. It is also known that the Russian military command is going to introduce additional elements into battle for offensive operations west of Avdiivka.
Ukrainian experts confirm the movement of Russian troops and predict the possibility of their actions in the future, including the deployment of new units. They also note the activity of units of the 90th Tank Division, which are trying to control strategic points in the region.
Reports from March 2 recorded continued positional fighting west and southwest of Donetsk, but there were no confirmed changes to the front line in the area. Fighting continued in the Krasnohorivka and Georgiivka areas west of Donetsk, as well as in the Pobeda and Novomykhailivka areas southwest of the city.
Although Russian “military leaders” claimed that Russian troops were advancing near Novomykhailivka, Georgiyevka, and Krasnohorivka, ISW was unable to find any confirmation of these claims. It was also noted that Ukrainian minefields west of Donetsk were complicating further operations by Russian troops.
Fighting also continued within the administrative border between Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions, but no changes were detected in the front line. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported an unsuccessful attack by Russian troops near Urozhayne, south of Velyka Novosilka. Russian sources claimed that Russian troops were advancing near Marfopol and Hulyaipol, but these claims were not confirmed by ISW.
Also on March 2, positional battles continued in the west of Zaporizhzhia region, in particular in the area of Robotyny and Verbovye east of Robotyny. The Russian “military commander” reported a lull in the area, and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded only one unsuccessful Russian attack.
On the eastern (left) bank of the Kherson region, Russian troops achieved minor successes near Krynyki during prolonged positional battles. Geolocation data indicates small victories for the invaders in this area.
