The State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion to a law enforcement officer who is accused of abusing his power during the implementation of a state procurement.
According to the investigation, in July 2023, a contract was concluded between the state administration and a commercial company for the supply of a mobile control point based on an all-terrain vehicle worth over 31 million hryvnias.
In November of the same year, the official, without proper justification, approved a change in the technical specifications — in particular, replacing the car chassis with a cheaper version. This contradicted the terms of the contract and current legislation.
As a result of the changes, the state suffered losses of over 2.3 million hryvnias due to the supply of lower-quality equipment.
The suspect is charged with Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Abuse of power or official position, which caused grave consequences”). The sanction of the article provides for up to 6 years of imprisonment.
Investigators conducted searches, during which they seized over 25 thousand US dollars in cash. The suspect's real estate and car were seized. The court is currently considering a motion to impose a preventive measure, and investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances and possible accomplices.
The Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office is responsible for procedural management of the case.
