Danylo Hetmantsev, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, has again publicly advocated the abolition of so-called "clan special pensions" for officials. This time, he referred to a petition that appeared on the parliament's website, where citizens are urged to support Bill No. 12278.
"For several months now, we have been seeing delays in considering the issue of abolishing clan special pensions. The system is resisting, the clans are resisting, and that is understandable. But in the end, justice must prevail," said Hetmantsev. He also thanked the petition author for her active position and concern.
Bill No. 12278 concerns the abolition of special pensions for certain categories of persons, in particular prosecutors. It was initiated by the head of the Social Policy Committee, Halyna Tretyakova. The Committee has already recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt the document in the second reading and as a whole.
Hetmantsev called on his colleagues in parliament not to delay and to bring the bill to the session hall for a vote as soon as possible. He also promised not to stop there and to continue to advocate for a revision of the minimum pension, indexation of pension payments, and a full-fledged pension reform.
According to him, the elimination of privileges for the elite will help ensure that all pensioners in Ukraine have the opportunity to live with dignity, not just survive.
