Turkish columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, a respected journalist for the Hürriyet newspaper, reported that the peace process regarding Ukraine could begin in April-May 2024. The publication, which is considered close to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, notes that key negotiations could take place with active mediation from Ankara.
“A peace table is expected to be set up in April-May to end the Russian-Ukrainian war,” Selvi writes.
He added that a roadmap is currently being created. "First, a ceasefire will be announced. Then sanctions against Russia will be reviewed," the journalist writes.
At the same time, according to his information, "it does not seem possible to make a decision regarding the occupied territories" of Ukraine in the short term (i.e., they will remain under Russian control).
Selvy writes that both Trump and Putin want peace, so "Zelensky, whose American support has been cut off, has no way to walk away from the table.".
The journalist does not reveal where he got this information from. However, it should be noted that leaks about "peace plans" have been increasing in recent days.
It is also said that the ceasefire will begin at the end of April.
