In the capital, law enforcement officers have detained a 19-year-old man suspected of setting fire to a shoe store. The incident occurred during curfew, when the young man poured alcohol on the metal-plastic doors of the store and set them on fire with a lighter. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv police.
A businessman contacted law enforcement after discovering the door of his store damaged by fire. As a result of operational work, the police established that a local resident living in one of Kyiv's hostels may have been involved in the arson.

As the police say, a young man, walking past a store during curfew, doused the door with alcohol and set it on fire, after which he quickly disappeared from the scene of the crime.
Based on the evidence collected, the police opened criminal proceedings under the article “Intentional destruction or damage to property by arson .” The article carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention, but with the possibility of posting bail. The amount of bail has not yet been specified.
This case once again highlights the problem of public order violations even during martial law. Although the curfew is imposed for the safety of the population, the lack of accountability for its violation creates loopholes for potential criminals. At the same time, this incident causes public outrage because of the actions of the young man, which could have led to more serious consequences.
