In Odessa, police officers detained a 19-year-old man suspected of extorting a fictitious debt from a stranger. The police reported this.
A 21-year-old local resident contacted law enforcement and stated that an unknown person was demanding 5,000 hryvnias in "debt."
As it turned out, the applicant had a conflict with a woman near one of the hospitals. She called her husband, a 19-year-old man from Odessa. He arrived, beat the young man, and declared him a "debtor." As "collateral," he took the victim's vehicle registration certificate and began demanding money.
After that, the young man regularly called the victim, threatened violence, and arranged meetings to transfer funds.
The police detained the attacker after he received the entire amount in installments and returned the document. They seized cash, a mobile phone, and the car he was using.
He now faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of 24-hour house arrest.
