Internet prices in Ukraine to rise from October 1

A significant increase in Internet tariffs is planned in Ukraine from October 1, 2024, which may negatively affect users. According to forecasts, tariffs will increase by at least 50 hryvnias. This is due to the transition to a new general taxation system for Internet service providers.

This was reported by Today.ua with reference to participants in the communication services market.

It is noted that such a procedure may be an attempt to monopolize the market in favor of large companies. As Lyudmila Kokorovets, executive director of the My Provider group of companies, explained, this may lead to the closure of many small businesses serving villages and towns.

“And if they do provide their services, it will be for a completely different price. This will lead to people paying approximately 300 hryvnias per month for the Internet, and somewhere in remote areas — 1,300 or more,” she added.

It is also noted that in Ukraine there is competition between small companies, which provides customers with reasonable prices and a high level of service.

“A market devoid of competition will inevitably lose in the quality of services and lead to an increase in prices,” said Roman Perun, a representative of the IT-KARKAS company.

The head of the Odessa OVA, Oleg Kiper, in turn, suggested that providers create a working group to systematize their proposals in order to have a clear plan of action.

“This is a nationwide phenomenon, so Odesa cannot change anything autonomously, and we must contact the State Fiscal Service,” he said.

We remind you that, in order to minimize threats to national security, the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center has adopted a decision to prohibit the installation and use of Telegram on official devices of employees of state authorities, military personnel, employees of the security and defense sector, as well as enterprises - operators of critical infrastructure.
