In Transcarpathia, law enforcement officers are constantly uncovering illegal schemes for transporting men of military age to EU countries. This week alone, three escape routes were stopped, six organizers were charged with suspicion, and six more evaders were warned. The amount the criminals tried to make off with is 33,000 US dollars, the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office reports.
Law enforcement officers emphasize that these actions pose a serious threat to life. Crossing mountains, forests, and the Tisza River in winter can lead to hypothermia, injuries, disorientation, and even fatalities. Despite this, organizers continue to offer their "services" for big money.
In particular, in Mukachevo region, a 41-year-old man tried to organize the escape of a Kyiv resident for $11,000. In Uzhhorod region, a 42-year-old resident of Perechyn, his son, and two accomplices escorted evaders through the mountains for $7,000 to $12,500. In Beregov region, a 45-year-old man transported two people to the border with Romania for $1,000.
In addition, prosecutors sent two episodes to court: a 23-year-old man who accompanied evaders through forest routes for $500, and a 31-year-old organizer and infectious disease doctor who prepared fictitious medical certificates to cross the Tysa checkpoint.
The Prosecutor's Office urges citizens not to look for easy ways across the border and not to pay attackers, as this puts life and freedom at risk.
