Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported on the results of the prosecutor's office's work on exposing corruption schemes in the field of financial support for military personnel. According to him, this concerns abuses during the accrual and payment of state-guaranteed funds to military personnel within the framework of the "Corruption Payments" program.
"This category of cases is one of the priorities of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense. We coordinate the work of law enforcement agencies, provide procedural guidance for pre-trial investigations, and ensure that every hryvnia allocated to the military is used legally and for its intended purpose," Kravchenko noted.
Under the procedural guidance of the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense, suspicion was declared against the former deputy commander of the military unit - chief of staff. The investigation established that he organized the groundless accrual and payment of additional funds to himself and other servicemen for fictitious participation in hostilities. The losses caused to the state amount to UAH 1.97 million. The suspect was served with a petition for the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention.
The Prosecutor General clarified that this case is not an isolated one. Only in 2026, under the procedural guidance of specialized defense prosecutors' offices:
-
in 36 criminal proceedings, 51 individuals were reported as suspected of illegal payments of financial support and additional rewards for performing combat missions;
-
The total amount of established losses to the state exceeds UAH 88.7 million.
"My position is principled and unchanging: in war you cannot steal under the guise of a uniform or rank. Payments to the military are not a resource for abuse, but an element of justice and combat resilience," Ruslan Kravchenko summed up.
