Deputy prosecutor taken into custody for bribery

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has decided to apply a preventive measure to the deputy head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, who was caught receiving an illegal benefit. According to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), the official will be kept in custody, but the court has determined an alternative - bail in the amount of 8 million hryvnias.

According to the investigation, the prosecutor demanded a $40,000 bribe for changing the subject of the criminal case, canceling the seizure of property, and avoiding criminal liability for a certain person. Law enforcement officers detained the official "red-handed" while receiving the entire amount.

We would like to remind you that this revelation was the result of joint efforts of NABU, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), and the Prosecutor General. The official is charged under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns receiving an illegal benefit by an official in particularly large amounts.
