In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a 43-year-old resident of Troyeschyna, who organized the illegal sale of combat grenades. The man was previously held criminally liable for drug crimes, property crimes, and domestic violence, and was released from prison in April 2025.
Police determined that he had purchased three hand grenades with fuses and was trying to sell two of them. During his arrest while selling ammunition, the grenades were seized from him, and another grenade casing and fuse were seized from his residence.
Investigators from the Desnyan District Prosecutor's Office informed the defendant of suspicion of committing two episodes of a crime under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for carrying, storing, purchasing and selling ammunition without a permit. The man faces up to seven years in prison for the crime.
Law enforcement officers emphasize the danger of illegal ammunition trafficking in the city and urge citizens to report suspicious activities to the police.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway, identifying possible suppliers and customers, as well as the circumstances of the purchase of the grenades.
