A resident of Lviv region was mobilized despite caring for his sick father

Volodymyr Malitsky, a resident of the village of Sasiv in the Lviv region, was mobilized despite the fact that he was caring for his seriously ill father who required constant care. The reason for the situation was a delay in processing documents that would allow him to defer service.

The regional territorial center for recruitment and social support explained that citizens who care for persons with disabilities may receive a deferral in accordance with Article 23 of the Law of Ukraine “On Mobilization Training and Mobilization.” To do this, it is necessary to provide supporting documents in advance.

However, in the case of Volodymyr, due to the reorganization of social security bodies, there was a delay in issuing certificates. This made it impossible to submit the necessary documents in a timely manner, which is why the man was mobilized. The recruitment center noted that the mobilization took place in accordance with the law, since confirmation of the right to a deferral was not provided at the time of the draft. At the same time, as the CCC emphasized, each case is considered individually. Volodymyr Malitsky told reporters in a comment that after the situation became public, he received a short-term leave from service. He was given up to 10 days to be able to submit all the documents to the military unit for official discharge from the army. According to the man, recently he has been regularly renewing the deferral, which required confirmation every three months. This time he did not have time to renew the certificate of receipt of state assistance for caring for his father, who has the first group of disability.

Lawyers note that such situations occur due to a complex bureaucratic procedure, especially during periods of changes in the structure of social security bodies. The easiest way out is to prepare documents in advance and be in constant contact with military registration.

Previously, the government automatically registered all men between the ages of 25 and 60 who were not on the register. They can check their details through the “Reserve+” app and must follow the rules of military registration to avoid fines and misunderstandings.
