In Ukraine, conscripts who are entitled to a deferment from mobilization must follow a clear procedure for its registration. The presence of documents confirming the right to a deferment does not mean that it is granted automatically. This was reported by Roman Grunda, assistant to the head of the Ternopil regional CCC and SP for legal work, during a briefing.
"A deferment from conscription for military service may be granted for family reasons, health reasons, to obtain education or continue professional activities. But even if you have the right to a deferment and the relevant documents, this does not confirm its automatic granting," explained Grunda.
To receive a deferment, a conscript must complete the following steps:
- Collection of documents : It is necessary to collect all documents specified in the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 560 “On the Procedure for Conducting Conscription for Military Service during Mobilization”.
- Visit to the TCC : The person must personally visit the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCC) at the place of military registration or registration of residence.
- Submission of documents : Submit documents for consideration by the commission established at the CCC.
- Receiving a decision : Wait for the commission's decision to grant or refuse a deferral.
It is important to note that in late August, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a new bill that simplifies the procedure for obtaining a deferment for military servicemen who support or care for sick relatives or people with disabilities. Now they do not need to submit documents proving the absence of other able-bodied relatives in the family.
