In Sumy region, law enforcement officers have exposed the head of the headquarters department of a military unit, who is suspected of falsifying combat missions for six servicemen. According to preliminary investigation data, this scheme allowed the officer to illegally embezzle more than 2.4 million hryvnias.
As investigators established, at the end of 2024, the major suggested that his subordinates issue fictitious documents about participating in hostilities in the Kharkiv region. In reality, the servicemen remained on duty at the headquarters in Sumy and did not go to the front.
Despite this, they were regularly paid combat pay — up to 170 thousand hryvnias per month. Under the terms of the conspiracy, the servicemen transferred a significant part of these funds in cash to their superior. Those who hesitated, the major threatened with actual dispatch to the combat zone. As a result, each of the subordinates was left with about 30 thousand hryvnias, while the rest ended up in the hands of the officer.
The investigation established that over three months of such a scheme, the major illegally received over 2.4 million hryvnias. Procedural actions are currently underway, and the issue of notifying him of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
