Russian attack knocks out power to one of the power lines at the Zapadnaya NPP

As a result of another attack by Russian troops on a main substation, one of the power lines of the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was de-energized, which again put the plant on the verge of a blackout. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko commented on the situation, calling it another act of Russian terrorism. He stressed the danger of an accident at the Zaporizhia NPP and called for the immediate implementation of the IAEA resolution, which requires the return of the plant to Ukrainian control. “The safe operation of the Zaporizhia NPP is possible only under the control of Ukraine,” the minister emphasized.

Energy workers are already working to eliminate the consequences of the attack, trying to restore power to the occupied station as soon as possible.

The IAEA has repeatedly called for the Zaporizhzhia NPP reactors not to be restarted while the war continues. Earlier, the agency's experts reported explosions near a substation near the station, likely as a result of a drone attack.

In addition, it is known that the Russian military uses the station's territory as a base for training FPV drone pilots, which further exacerbates the risks at the Zaporizhia NPP.

Recently, during the IAEA General Conference, the IAEA adopted a resolution requiring Russia to immediately leave the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and transfer it under Ukrainian control.
