On September 7, Russia launched its first strike on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine building in Kyiv. The government building was hit by an Iskander (9M727) missile, but the warhead did not fire. This was reported by the presidential commissioner for sanctions policy, Vladyslav Vlasyuk.
What was found in the rocket?
According to him, the missile's composition revealed:
-
35 American-made components (manufacturers include Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, Altera);
-
1 Japanese (Fujitsu);
-
1 British (College Electronics Ltd);
-
1 Swiss (Traco Power);
-
5 Belarusian (JSC “Integral”);
-
57 Russian (in particular, JSC “Mikron”, “Angstrem”, “Strela”, “Exciton”, “Electrodetal”).
Vlasyuk emphasized that compared to missiles of previous years, the number of Western parts has decreased, while the share of Russian and Belarusian components has increased. Ukraine has already transferred this data to partners for sanctions response.
Massive attack on September 7
On the day of the attack, Russia carried out a record-breaking raid:
-
805 Shahed drones and imitation drones,
-
9 Iskander-K cruise missiles,
-
4 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles.
It was on this day that Russian troops first struck directly at the Cabinet of Ministers building.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the attack was part of a new phase of the war that Vladimir Putin announced after a visit to China and talks with Xi Jinping. The strike on the government building is symbolic and demonstrates Moscow's intention to increase pressure on Ukraine's political leadership.
