Russia has taken the A-50 reconnaissance aircraft into the air for the first time in six months, which may be a sign of preparations for a new massive strike on Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by military expert, serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Territorial Defense Forces Oleksandr Musienko in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
According to the expert, the current situation is contributing to the intensification of Russian attacks, as the US has temporarily suspended the transfer of aid to Ukraine and also limited the exchange of intelligence. The Kremlin may try to use this pause to exhaust the Ukrainian air defense system.
Musienko noted that the launch of the A-50 aircraft is not just a demonstration of force, but also the collection of intelligence data for more precise air strikes. “The Russians are trying to study our capabilities so that their strikes are more effective,” he stressed.
According to the expert, the Russian Federation will use any available means to attack Ukraine, trying to strengthen its own position in potential negotiations and demoralize Ukrainians.
Earlier, on the night of March 7, Russia carried out one of its largest strikes on Ukraine, launching 67 missiles and 194 drones. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to destroy 34 missiles and 100 drones, while another 86 drones were lost in flight.
