Russian troops have focused their attention on the south of Donetsk region, in particular on the direction of the city of Selidove, where they have deployed an entire army corps and additional tank forces. Ukrainian military and political analyst Kyrylo Sazonov reported this on the air of “Kyiv24”.
According to him, the main focus of the Russian invaders has now shifted to cities such as Vugledar, Kurakhove, and Selidove. The analyst notes that these are key points where the main enemy forces are being transferred.
Offensive on the southern cities of Donetsk region
The Russians are also increasing pressure on the city of Pokrovsk, with fighting continuing in Toretsk, New York, and Chasovye Yar. According to Sazonov, these assaults are intended to deter Ukrainian forces from transferring reinforcements to other areas.
Additionally, analyst Sergei Zgurets of Defense Express warned that Russian forces are attempting to bypass Selidove from the south, attacking positions near Tsukuryne. This is part of the invaders’ attempts to occupy the entire territory of Donetsk Oblast before possible negotiations begin.
The scale of enemy forces
The army corps deployed to this area may include from 30 to 60 thousand soldiers, which indicates a large-scale concentration of forces on this section of the front.
The situation on the southern front remains tense, with heavy losses among Russian troops. According to updated data, Russian losses in Ukraine continue to grow, especially in the context of active fighting in the east and south of the country.
