The military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained two individuals who were passing information about combat aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the enemy. The detentions took place in the Kyiv and Mykolaiv regions.
In the capital region, investigators discovered a woman who, according to the SBU, was transmitting data to the Russian side about the time, directions, and number of flights of Ukrainian military aircraft. According to preliminary data, the woman set up an “observation point” on the balcony of her apartment, from where she recorded the movements of aircraft. In addition, she traveled to the area to collect information about the consequences of Russian shelling. She was promised a monetary reward for completing these tasks.
In the Mykolaiv region, counterintelligence uncovered a mobilized serviceman who was recording Ukrainian combat aircraft flights. He was secretly filming from the territory of his unit and passing the materials to representatives of Russian special services.
During the searches, mobile phones containing evidence of involvement in illegal activities were seized from the detainees.
Both defendants were notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 (high treason under martial law) and Part 1 of Article 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The suspects are in custody. The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention without bail. They face from 5 years to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
