On September 25, it became known about high-profile investigative actions. The Security Service of Ukraine conducted searches as part of criminal proceedings regarding abuses in the field of freight transportation of Ukrzaliznytsia.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau immediately reacted, suggesting that this was about pressure on their institution, as former NABU detectives who now work at Ukrzaliznytsia were among the suspects.
However, the SBU denied this version. They stated that searches are being conducted exclusively at the premises of state-owned company officials and private entrepreneurs who are directly involved in the case. “Investigative and operational measures have no relation to the independence of anti-corruption institutions,” the agency noted.
