On the evening of February 23, an explosion occurred in a police administrative building in one of the districts of Dnipro. Law enforcement agencies confirmed the incident and opened criminal proceedings under the article on a terrorist act.
According to the National Police, the explosion occurred at around 8:30 p.m. in the Amur-Nizhnyodniprovskyi district of the city. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
The blast wave damaged the building's windows, furniture, and computer equipment. A car parked next to the building was also damaged.
The Prosecutor General's Office clarified that an improvised explosive device detonated in the premises of one of the police departments. Explosives experts, forensic experts, and an investigative and operational group are working at the scene.
Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, SBU investigators have launched a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - committing a terrorist act. The circumstances of the incident are being established.
The explosion was first reported by local media outlets, noting that it occurred on the city's left bank. Later, video footage from the scene appeared online, showing broken windows in the building.
The incident in Dnipro was the second this evening. A few hours earlier, an explosion occurred in Mykolaiv - on the territory of an idle gas station located next to the building of the patrol police department. According to the prosecutor's office, five police officers were injured there, one person is in serious condition.
Another terrorist attack occurred the day before in the center of Lviv. A 23-year-old policewoman died in the explosion. The suspect in the crime was detained, and the court chose for her a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail. According to the investigation, another person was involved in organizing the crime.
Law enforcement officials emphasize that the investigation into all incidents is ongoing.
