Due to the massive Russian missile attack on November 17, a large part of Odessa and the Odessa region was left without electricity, water and heating. In addition, the work of city electric transport and schools was suspended. DTEK Odessa Electric Networks specialists are still working to restore power supply to critical infrastructure facilities to provide residents with water and heat. Problems with electricity also affected transport: due to power outages, city electric transport was not operating on November 18.
The Odessa City Hall reported that due to the lack of electricity on two city routes, large buses provided by international partners will operate instead of electric trolleybuses. They will serve passengers from the “sleeping” districts of Kyiv and Peresyp. Each bus will make two round trips in the morning and evening, with an interval of 45 minutes.
According to the decision of the regional commission for TEB and NS, schools and kindergartens in Odessa will be closed for two days. At the same time, the city council noted that special groups will work for children whose parents cannot leave them at home.
Water supply is now gradually being restored in Odessa. Some facilities are operating on generators, and “points of invincibility” have been deployed to provide residents with the necessary resources. According to the head of the Odessa OVA, Oleg Kiper, heating has been partially restored, while hospitals and critical infrastructure are provided with electricity from alternative sources.
Recall that the missile strike on November 17 caused massive damage to the energy infrastructure of Odessa. Two energy workers were killed and a 17-year-old boy was injured in the shelling. The attack also caused fires in three private homes, and four more homes were seriously damaged.
