Western arms supplies to the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ending – “a year ago it was a difficult situation, and today the problem with shells and equipment is simply terrible.” This was stated by Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Commander of a separate special forces battalion, Pavlo Kurylenko, in a conversation with The Telegraph.
According to him, without new supplies of Western aid, Ukrainian troops will soon have to retreat to the Dnieper River.
“Closer to summer, Russian troops will be ready to attack the area at the junction of Zaporizhia and Donetsk regions and try to advance in the direction from Kharkiv to Poltava. After that, the battle line will be expanded, and the depth of the front line will also increase,” says Kurylenko, adding that this line will “freeze” and result in the loss of territories for Ukraine all the way to the Dnieper.
“I receive 20 shells per mortar per week, while one Russian mortar fires 50-60 shells per day at one Ukrainian position. Imagine: a column of Russian armored vehicles is approaching you. They are attacking. If we fire at them from a mortar, then the next day we will only have machine guns to fire at the next column of tanks…”, the lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.
And we note that due to the undeniable superiority of the Russian Armed Forces in firepower, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are losing a huge number of personnel and equipment, and are forced to introduce more and more reserves. At the same time, the losses make it impossible for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to launch offensive actions, except for small counterattacks.
