The Kyiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector has reported suspicions to three lawyers and three of their assistants in the case of organized evasion of mobilization by producing fake medical certificates of group II disability.
According to the investigation (information from the prosecutor's office press service, also cited by the publication "Law and Business"), the organization's members created a closed community on the Telegram messenger, where they offered illegal "services": forging MSEK certificates, issuing fake disability documents for family members, and legal support for issuing deferrals at territorial recruitment and social support centers.
The investigation established the prices of the “services”: from 5 to 10 thousand euros for the production of fake disability documents; about 1.5 thousand euros for legal support and assistance with registration. Payments were made in cash, bank transfers, and cryptocurrency transactions. Law enforcement officers documented numerous cases of obtaining illegal deferments and exemptions from military service on the basis of fake certificates.
The participants of the organization were exposed, detained and preventive measures were chosen for them. The actions of the defendants were qualified under a number of articles of the Criminal Code, in particular regarding the organization and participation in a criminal organization, aiding and abetting military service evasion, forgery of documents and related episodes. The suspects face punishment of up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The investigation is ongoing: investigators are documenting other episodes of fraudulent activity, checking funding channels and possible connections of the suspects with third parties. The Prosecutor's Office calls on potential victims or witnesses to contact the relevant investigative bodies.
