On the night of July 10, a heavy downpour began in Lviv, which has already led to serious flooding in the city and a number of communities in the region. After several hot days with temperatures around +30°C, a sharp cooling has come to the region, accompanied by intense rains. According to weather forecasters, precipitation will continue at least until the end of the day.
Flooded streets, first floors and parking lots
The most difficult situation is currently observed on Kulparkivska, Truskavetska, and Aviatsiyna streets. Near the Continent residential complex in the village of Sokilnyky, water flooded parking lots: the water level reached the car windows, some cars overturned, and others were almost completely underwater.
The Zubra River overflowed its banks, flooding nearby areas, making it impossible for vehicles to pass through. Local residents report flooding of basements, adjacent areas, and even the first floors of residential buildings.
Consequences of the bad weather: more than 190 settlements were left without electricity
According to the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytsky, as of the morning of July 10, 192 settlements remain without electricity, 55 of which are completely without power, and another 137 are partially.
"Emergency crews are working on the ground, but until the rains stop, it will be difficult to fully eliminate the consequences of the flooding," the Lviv City Council reported.
Forecast: the rains will not let up
According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, heavy rains in Lviv and western Ukraine will continue at least until the end of the day on July 10. Due to the weather conditions, residents are urged not to leave their homes unnecessarily, avoid flooded areas, and be careful on the roads.
