Hundreds of thousands of federal employees have been furloughed and planned meetings with Ukrainian officials have been canceled, leaving negotiations on a possible drone deal between Kyiv and Washington in limbo, The Telegraph reports, citing a Ukrainian government source.
According to a Cabinet official, the US government shutdown was the result of Democrats and Republicans failing to reach an agreement on government spending. As a result, a Ukrainian delegation that arrived in the US on September 30 to discuss drone technology exchange was unable to hold scheduled meetings.
Representatives from the Pentagon, State Department, and White House are not meeting, and all future projects have suffered, the source said. Other Ukrainian delegations that were supposed to arrive in the coming weeks are now reviewing their plans.
