During 2024, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation were actively involved in investigating cases of illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine. This problem, which has become particularly urgent under martial law, has become one of the priority areas of the department's work.

Statistics of criminal proceedings show that illegal schemes for smuggling people across the state border are created mainly by officials, employees of the CCC, MSEK, doctors, and law enforcement officers.
Most often, attackers use the mechanism of removal from military registration through fake diagnoses of unfitness for military service.
At the same time, realizing that traditional schemes are effectively breaking down, some officials responsible for mobilization are trying
to come up with new mechanisms for transporting draft evaders across the border. SBI employees began to identify cases where people tried to make money on draftees right at checkpoints. Personal escort services to the border, sham marriages, etc. appeared.
During the investigation of such criminal proceedings, the amount of documented bribes alone amounted to 11 million 400 thousand hryvnias. However, the State Bureau of Investigation is convinced that in reality the amounts of illicit benefits are much greater and will be precisely established during the investigation.
Very often, citizens become victims of banal fraud, during which they are simply taken away from significant sums of money under the guise of assistance in transportation.
The courts have seized the property of the defendants for a total amount of almost 11 million hryvnias.
In total, this year, courts have already passed 11 convictions against 14 people, which have already entered into legal force.
