The Kremlin has once again spoken about the possible use of the Oreshnik missile against Ukraine. However, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council stated: there is no reason for panic, the last launch of this weapon was unsuccessful. This was reported by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation Andriy Kovalenko.
According to him, it is important not to forget that the last attempt to launch the "Nutcracker" actually ended in nothing. "The rocket simply did not fly. This must be clearly kept in mind," Kovalenko noted. He added that after the failed test and the information hysteria that the Russians had previously spread, the topic of the "Nutcracker" disappeared from the public sphere. But now it has become active again against the backdrop of massive strikes by unknown drones on military-industrial complex facilities in Russia itself.
"The Russians are worried about the security of their parade, and they are drawing threats for themselves. Ukraine has officially stated that it cannot guarantee security at Russian events, but this does not mean that we are planning attacks," Kovalenko emphasized. He also suggested that the Russian side may resort to provocations at its own parade in order to justify further aggression.
The head of the Central Defense Directorate did not rule out that the Russian side could have technically improved the missile, but assured that even if a new launch is being prepared, Ukraine will know about it in advance. "Our services already have experience in monitoring the situation. If there is a threat of a launch from the Kapustyny Yar test site, they will definitely report it," he noted.
Kovalenko stressed that Ukrainians should not panic, because even in the worst-case scenario, the population will have enough time to take the necessary security measures. “Nothing will happen suddenly. If something ‘shoots them in the head’, we will already know,” the NSDC representative summed up.
