Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called an urgent meeting with security forces to discuss measures to punish those who fled Ukraine during the war. Among the prominent figures who left the country are deputies, oligarchs and other politicians who have become the subject of investigations and discussions.
In recent days, the scandal has not subsided, where the main "hero" has become People's Deputy Artem Dmytruk, known for his loyalty to the UOC-MP. He left Ukraine before he was suspected of beating a military and law enforcement officer. In connection with Dmytruk's illegal departure, searches have already been carried out at civilians and employees of the State Border Guard Service, who probably assisted the deputy in illegally crossing the border.
Oligarch Gennady Bogolyubov also chose to live abroad instead of being suspected in Ukraine. In June 2024, he left the country with an invalid passport. According to media reports, the reason for his escape was information that he was being suspected in the PrivatBank case.
Former People's Deputy Pavlo Rizanenko also decided to sit out abroad. He was twice elected to the Verkhovna Rada from the 97th district, which includes the cities of Berezan and Brovary, as well as Baryshivskyi district and part of Brovary. It was part of Brovary district that was occupied by the Russians at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. However, Rizanenko chose to stay away from ordinary Brovary residents who had trusted him for years and go abroad.
Former advisor to the President's Office, Oleksiy Arestovych, is building his "brilliant" career as an expert on all issues not in Ukraine either. Although, we should not forget that at the beginning of the full-scale war, he was the main communicator for the OP.
And these are just a few examples. If we were to mention all the politicians who built their careers during the time of fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych, the list would be dozens of pages long.
Among them are Yanukovych's henchman Andriy Portnov, pro-Russian politicians Andriy Derkach, Yevheniy Murayev, Taras Kozak, Oleg Voloshyn, Natalia Korolevska and others.
This is just part of a long list of individuals who have slipped out of the sights of Ukrainian law enforcement. The names of these people remind us of the serious challenges facing Ukraine in the fight against internal enemies.
