US President Donald Trump has harshly criticized American politicians who, in his opinion, are encouraging Ukraine to continue its war with Russia, he said during a conversation with reporters after arriving in New Jersey.
In particular, Trump responded to a reporter's question about the actions of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Both politicians, according to the journalist, are putting pressure on Kyiv, insisting on the need to continue hostilities.
In response, Trump said that such rhetoric is dangerous:
"This could have serious consequences for those who say it. Politicians should be careful in their statements about war ," Trump stressed.
He also hinted at some progress in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, but did not disclose details.
“There are some developments, but the main thing now is to prevent escalation, especially from those who comment on this war irresponsibly ,” said the former US president.
This is not the first time Trump has called for de-escalation and an end to the war. In his previous statements, he has repeatedly promised that if he returns to the White House, he “could end the conflict in 24 hours.”.
