A special headquarters has been created under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which will be responsible for issues and control of preparations for the heating season in the regions. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on his Telegram channel after a meeting with the heads of regional military administrations.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Viktor Mykyta. The participants discussed winter preparedness, as well as necessary measures to protect energy facilities, build reserves, and develop decentralized generation.
Shmyhal noted that the main task is to take into account all possible scenarios and respond promptly to emergencies. "We must move on these issues in a coordinated and rapid manner," the Prime Minister emphasized.
In addition, the meeting discussed the restoration of critical infrastructure, the reconstruction of key facilities, and the construction of shelters in schools. For the effective management of priority projects, a Strategic Investment Council was established, which will prepare projects important for communities and attract international investment.
Shmyhal stressed the importance of active participation of local authorities in submitting applications for project financing. He also recalled that last winter, despite the shelling, was not critically difficult for Ukraine, but this year the situation may be more difficult due to significant losses of energy capacity.
