Official representatives of the United States and Russia announced their intention to appoint high-level teams to promptly end the war and achieve a long-term peace that would be acceptable to all parties.
US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce stressed that the parties agreed to establish a consultation mechanism aimed at removing obstacles in bilateral relations and improving the work of diplomatic missions. According to her, the US advocates for an end to violence and uses its influence on the international stage to unite countries in this process.
"We want to stop the killings and we are using our power in the world to unite countries to do this. President Trump is the only leader in the world who can force Ukraine and Russia to agree to this," Bruce noted.
The talks also discussed issues related to improving cooperation in various areas, including geopolitical and economic, that may arise after the successful conclusion of the conflict. An important part of the agreements was the creation of a consultation mechanism to normalize relations and ensure progress in peace negotiations.
The process of normalizing relations gained new momentum thanks to a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, Bruce stressed that one call and one meeting are not enough to establish lasting peace - further active action is needed.
