Important negotiations took place in London, during which the Ukrainian and American sides agreed on a list of 22 specific actions that could form the basis for a diplomatic end to the war with Russia. This was reported on Fox News by US President's special representative Keith Kellogg.
According to Kellogg, some of the proposals caused resistance in the Ukrainian delegation, but the parties reached a constructive agreement:
“The Ukrainians didn’t like all [points], but that’s okay. Negotiations are always a compromise. We’re comfortable with where we are now.”.
Kellogg also commented on the statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about Russia's allegedly inevitable victory, calling it "far from reality.".
“The Russian Federation will not win this war. They have lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers, they are advancing by meters, not kilometers. Ukrainians are fighting heroically on their land.”.
The American diplomat noted that the situation on the front and in international politics has changed significantly — Ukraine is strengthening its positions, and European allies are ready to intensify support, even without the participation of the United States.
“The Europeans, led by Britain and France, are ready to take the initiative if necessary. Russia must realize the changing circumstances.”.
According to Kellogg, there is no military solution to the war. Both sides must accept the need for negotiations.
"The only way is diplomatic. Ukrainians have already understood this after last week. And Russians must understand this.".
On April 23, a meeting between representatives of Ukraine, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the United States was held in London. It was not without political complications — US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative Steve Witkoff declined to participate. However, Kellogg stressed that the results of the talks were “positive.”.
