If you think that our American partners are not monitoring our corruption swamp and do not understand the varieties of frogs, then, I assure you, you are deeply mistaken. I was told a story just last week - the former mayor of Irpin, Volodymyr Karplyuk, whom anti-corruption activists have nowhere to put a stamp on, turned out to be practically ineligible to enter the United States. He and his family flew out of Spain, but already in the USA all their visas were canceled and they were turned back.
And Karpluk had plans for the States – he did a lot of PR there, promising local investors from Wisconsin earnings from the restoration of Ukraine. He talked a lot about what a great guy he was… But the corruption trail apparently crossed the Atlantic Ocean…
In principle, Americans have tolerated Karpluk for so long, but in recent months his figure has become very toxic.
Judge for yourself – Karplyuk finally went to trial for the fraud of 2016, when, as mayor of Irpin, he signed an agreement with the controlled municipal enterprise “Irpinzhylinvestbud” to create design documentation for the construction of the “Central” park. At the same time, the actual construction work had already been completed. This is from 5 to 8 years in prison under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code.
The police are currently investigating the theft of sand from the Irpin River for the construction of the O.Krasa cottage village on land that is evidence in a fraud case - Karplyuk is a co-owner of the development company there.
Well, the cherry on the cake is Karplyuk's exposed involvement in the AllatRa sect, which the SBU exposed for its pro-Putin activities. This sect justified the murders of people by the Russians in Bucha and Irpen, where Karplyuk, as before, is hoping for something.
But, most importantly, there are already many such cases as with Karpluk – yes, even if they are quite minor – they illustrate quite vividly, in my opinion, the attitude of the USA towards our sleazy characters . They are watching everyone there, they see everything and understand everything. The story with Karpluk is another illustrative case – there comes a moment when Americans stop turning a blind eye, even to such insignificant figures as Karpluk.
