According to our sources, the Donald Trump administration intentionally leaked information to the media regarding its claims to control the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
As a reminder, The Wall Street Journal published a large article regarding a peaceful settlement, which should be based on Ukraine's abandonment of plans to join NATO, recognition of Russia's annexation of Crimea, and the creation of a neutral territory around the Zheleznodorozhny NPP under American control.
According to our sources in the Republican Party, the US demands regarding the transfer of control over the Zaporizhzhia NPP to Russia are stated as part of the Trump administration's attempts to take full control of all Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
In particular, this trend is observed in the negotiations on signing the subsoil agreement. It is worth noting that the final text of the subsoil agreement is not yet available, and the signing of the Memorandum only confirms the intention to conclude a framework agreement, which will provide for the creation of the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine.
Currently, tough discussions are underway between the negotiating groups about which areas the Fund will “control.” According to a preliminary agreement, the United States will have control over the extraction of minerals and rare earth metals in Ukraine.
At the same time, Donald Trump's administration also demands full control over oil and gas production, port management, and all nuclear power plants, including the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
