The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted an important bill No. 12095, which allows military personnel who have deserted or left their units for the first time to voluntarily return to service. The document was adopted in the second reading and with a total of 253 votes of people's deputies.
According to the new law, during martial law, servicemen who left their units or places of service will have the opportunity to return to service without negative consequences for their careers. In the event of a voluntary return to service, all social guarantees, benefits and payments, including cash, food and material support, will be restored to them.
A feature of the law is that criminal proceedings against servicemen who left their units without permission will not be grounds for refusing to renew their contracts or to continue military service. Thus, the law creates an opportunity for the rehabilitation of servicemen who have decided to return and have expressed their willingness to continue serving in wartime conditions.
The adoption of this law is intended not only to replenish the ranks of the army at the expense of those who have not fulfilled their duties earlier, but also to create a support mechanism for those who decide to return to military service, taking into account the difficult conditions of wartime.
