During the final meeting of the Working Group of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement, Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Mariana Bezugla presented the revised draft law on the creation of a military justice system in Ukraine.
The bill defines the status of the military police, its legal principles, general structure and personnel, the procedure for applying physical force and firearms, as well as the legal and social protection of its employees.
During the presentation of the bill, the Chairman of the Committee Serhiy Ionushas and other members of the working group also spoke. The initiators of the bill believe that it will contribute to maintaining law and order and military discipline in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Armed Forces, and the State Special Transport Service.
It is expected that the developed bill will be registered and considered by the Committee in the near future.
Earlier, on May 22, in the first reading, the Verkhovna Rada approved Bill No. 10311 on improving the legal basis for the use of coercive measures by National Guard servicemen. It provides for the right of National Guard servicemen to use means of forcible stopping of a vehicle whose driver has not complied with their lawful demands or is trying to evade control at a checkpoint.
