The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted Bill No. 11092, which brings back basic military training, known since Soviet times, to the school curriculum. 297 MPs voted for this bill in the second reading, ensuring its adoption.
As reported by Roman Hryshchuk, the head of the subcommittee on extracurricular education of the Verkhovna Rada committee, the subject "Defense of Ukraine" will be studied by all students, just like mathematics or the Ukrainian language.
"The law introduces the concept of "initial combined arms training," which will allow the government to make studying this subject mandatory. Greater emphasis is placed on technology, on the internal motivation of a citizen to defend his state," Hryshchuk added.
