The war may end in 2025 – Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed optimism about the possibility of ending the war in 2025. In his interview, he emphasized a number of key aspects that could affect the further development of events.

Main points of Zelensky's statement

  1. Risks for NATO and Ukraine's influence
The President noted that Vladimir Putin's ambitions could threaten NATO member states. However, the possibility of further Russian aggression directly depends on the outcome of the war in Ukraine:

    • Ukraine's victory will stop Putin.
    • An unfair peace imposed on Ukraine will increase the risks of an attack on NATO.

“A lot will be decided this year,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

  2. Shortage of long-range weapons

The President acknowledged that the provision of long-range weapons significantly helps Ukraine, but the decision to provide them was made late, and the number of deliveries is still insufficient.

  3. Ukraine's future in NATO
Zelensky stressed that real independence for Ukraine is possible only if it joins NATO. In his statement, he proposed:

    • Invitation to NATO within the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine.
    • Temporary “taking under the NATO umbrella” those territories under Ukrainian control to end the hot phase of the war. Other territories can be returned through diplomatic methods.
