There are no prerequisites for hurricanes in Ukraine, and information about possible catastrophic weather phenomena is fake. This was stated by the spokeswoman of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, Natalia Ptukha, during a telethon on Tuesday.
According to Ptukha, hurricanes are natural phenomena that are not typical for our country due to its geographical location and insufficient wind speed in flat areas. Ukraine does not have the conditions under which real hurricanes could occur, as in tropical regions.
“Any reports of possible hurricanes in Ukraine are disinformation. We are observing strong winds, sometimes storm gusts, but these are not phenomena that can be classified as hurricanes,” explained the spokeswoman for the Ukrhydrometeorological Center.
For several weeks now, we have been observing that information from unreliable sources is often appearing. Let's say, some amateurs are trying to understand the calculation models that are in open sources and are trying to publish some kind of analysis. We have heard about both a dirty cloud and a hurricane. That is, these journalists, unfortunately, are irresponsible about the information they publish, and I believe that in this time that we have now, when the information space is already overloaded with stressful news, to make such publications with loud headlines that do not actually correspond to reality or are greatly exaggerated is simply disrespectful to citizens
According to Ptukha, hurricanes are not typical for Ukraine, since their occurrence requires a wind speed of over 32 m/s, which is practically not observed in the flat areas of the country.
We once again urge citizens not to take information from unreliable sources, and always rely only on official forecasts from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, because only the Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine can issue an official warning
She also emphasized that changes in synoptic processes in Ukraine, according to her, do indeed occur, but these are standard changes that do not pose a serious danger.
