A woman pretended to be a Pension Fund employee and deceived an elderly resident of Ochakiv

In the Mykolaiv region, a court has chosen a preventive measure for a woman suspected of fraud under the "banknote exchange" scheme.

According to the investigation, a 40-year-old female attacker came to the home of an elderly resident of Ochakov, posing as an employee of the Pension Fund. She gave the pensioner false information about allegedly exchanging old banknotes for new ones.

Believing the scammer, the woman gave her 1,000 US dollars, 1,000 euros, and 18,000 hryvnias. In return, the scammer kept the money for herself and gave the victim souvenir banknotes.

Law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator, and the court chose the only alternative preventive measure for her - detention.

If she is found guilty in court, she faces up to three years in prison.
