Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva stressed the importance of broad representation of the world's countries at the upcoming Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland. He noted that the results of the talks between the presidents of Ukraine and Switzerland determined the venue and time of the summit, and work is currently underway on organizational aspects, in particular, the preparation of invitations for participating states.
Zhovkva stressed the need to consider a broad range of countries to participate in the Peace Summit. He noted that this should include not only representatives from China, but also other countries of the Global South, such as India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Brazil, as well as other countries from Latin America, Africa and Asia. He noted that this initiative is not limited to Ukraine and Switzerland, and cooperation with partners in Europe is also important.
Zhovkva also noted that the President of Ukraine is actively communicating with European leaders in order to attract them to participate in the Peace Summit, emphasizing the importance of their contacts and influence on the leaders of the countries of the Global South.
Zhovkva also recalled that at the last meeting of national security advisors in Davos, representatives from 84 countries were represented, so the number of participants at the Summit in Switzerland is expected to be even greater.
The Global Peace Summit is an international event that will be held in Switzerland at the level of leaders of the countries participating in the Ukrainian Peace Formula. It is scheduled for June 15-16. Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland Wang Shiting also announced the possibility of participation from the PRC.
