President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made personnel changes in the Security Service of Ukraine, appointing new heads of two important departments.
In particular, Serhiy Hunkovsky became the head of the Counterintelligence Department of the SBU. Prior to that, he held the position of deputy head of the same unit.
At the same time, the Military Counterintelligence Department was headed by Viktor Zayets.
The head of state also awarded the ranks of generals to three senior SBU officials.
The following were awarded the rank of brigadier general:
Anton Kravchuk, Head of the Main Department of Internal Security of the SBU;
Volodymyr Karastelov, First Deputy Head of the Department for Counterintelligence Protection of State Interests in the Field of Information Security of the SBU;
Andriy Tupikov, Deputy Head of the SBU.
These units play a key role in the national security system, in particular, they identify and neutralize threats from foreign intelligence services, as well as ensure the protection of the military sphere in the event of a full-scale war.
It was previously reported that the SBU is preparing for large-scale personnel decisions in the regions , including possible dismissals of heads of departments in Kyiv and a number of regions.
